October 2004-January 2005

"On Monday 5th October 1981 a new era in passenger trains in Victoria started. The first 2 'N Sets' entered service."

Complete N-set

These are my N-carriages, consisting of a BN-BRN-ACN set plus an extra BCZ car. Also available is a PC power car, for when head-end power is not available.

I was quite pleased how they turned out. The dark blue is almost the perfect colour for the rooves, and I was quite pleased with the stickers I created for the doors. Unfortunately, the V/line stickers, being printed on glossy paper, lost a lot of colour drying, so don't really match the red sides, but I prefer the glossy finish, so I decided to live with it.

First is the BN. This is an economy car, and features a wash basin and seating for 6 minifigs. Next is the BRN, also economy, that features seating for another 6 minifigs, and a buffet. Last in the set is the ACN. This provides face-to-face seating for 4 first class passengers, and the conductor.

There is also a BCZ car, for peak time runs. This is another economy class car, with the same specs as the BN car.

DCP_2623 And for when the set is pulled by a loco without head-end power, a PC power car is available, containing a diesel generator.

N-set + BCZ pulled by N-class

Here you see the N-set plus BCZ car being pulled by an N-class locomotive.

N-set + PC pulled by P-class

And here is the N-set being pulled by a P-class locomotive. Note that as the P-class has no head-end power available, the PC car is required. Also, a second P-class is often used, coupled to the other end, in a push-pull arrangement.
