Search LEGO Instructions
You can search by set number or LEGO code. Enter the complete number or the first few digits, and click the search button. You must enter a number between 3 and 7 digits. Only the first 25 matching records will be returned.
Some sets have several sheets or books, and there are many duplicates on the site. If the search returns multiple identical versions, just pick the one that looks the best. The database often lists a desciption where there are multiple books/sheets, and also notes anything significant about the download.
The downloads are all PDF files, so you will need Adobe’s Acrobat reader to view them. If you don’t have it, you can download the latest version here.
Update: With Acrobat Reader getting so bloated these days I now use and recommend Foxit Reader for viewing PDF files.
This data is collated by hand, so there are probably mistakes. Especially the warning field - I didn’t check exhaustively through all the instructions, just noted it where I happened to see it. Also there are a certain number available that could not be reconciled to a Peeron set number, To view them, click the link below the search box. Please report any problems you find to instructions@br-eng.info.
Be aware that the files LEGO makes available on their site may change without notice - please report any dead links you find to instructions@br-eng.info. I will scan the LEGO site occasionally for updates, and highlights will be posted here.
It has also been brought to my attention that lego.com does some kind of filtering, probably by IP region or something, so files that are available for some may not be available for others. I scan from an Australian IP, so if you get “File not available”, this may be the cause.
- LEGO code: This is the 7-digit code used by LEGO - each instruction sheet/book has at least one such number.
- PDF size: Size of the PDF download.
- Set number: The LEGO set number - if the set appears in the Peeron.com database, it will have a link to the Peeron page.
- Description: If a set has multiple sheets/books, this describes the individual entry. It doesn’t describe the set.
- Notes: Any important notes about the entry.
- Region:
- EU = Europe / Asia;
- NA = North America;
- (blank) = Not region specific.
- Resolution:
- Scanned = scanned from paper instructions and converted to PDF;
- Limited = computer generated, but resolution is limited;
- Unlimited = computer generated with unlimited resolution (uses vector graphics).
- Warning: Whether it has a warning - “WARNING: Choking hazard” or similar.
Linking to this page
If you want to link to instructions on this page, there are several ways to do it. The main link to the page is http://www.br-eng.info/words/index.php/search-lego-instructions/, all other variations are linked by adding parameters to the end of that URL. The options are:
-
Instruction query -
?ins_qry=xxxYou can query the database via a link, by adding the ins_qry parameter. The search string must be numeric, between 3 and 7 digits. For example:
../words/index.php/search-lego-instructions/?ins_qry=10030 -
LEGO Instruction code -
?ins_code=4xxxxxxIf you know the 7 digit LEGO code, you can link to it by adding the ins_code parameter. The search string must be numeric, 7 digits long, and start with “4″. For example:
../words/index.php/search-lego-instructions/?ins_code=4187320 -
Peeron set code -
?ins_set=xxx-xIf you know the Peeron set number, you can link to it by adding the ins_set parameter. The search string must be numeric, between 3 and 7 digits, and contain a hyphen followed by the Peeron suffix. For example:
../words/index.php/search-lego-instructions/?ins_set=10030-1
The old URLs (see here) should still work, and probably always will unless a future update of Wordpress changes things. But I would encourage anyone who has used these links in their pages to update to the new format.
Note: These files are not hosted on this site, I simply provide links to the instruction files on lego.com and the set entries on peeron.com.
