Train Shows

May 16th, 2005 by RoscoHead

Well another train show appears to have ended up ok. We were hoping to break even, but as it was the first show at that venue, maybe our expectations were too high. But anyway, the layout worked well modularized (mostly), so we will probably stick with that concept.

But man, we need some more members with cars. I guess that means me…

Some other things to look at (in no particular order):

  1. Remote controlled points
  2. Backdrop
  3. More coherent “zones”
  4. Switchable “dead” track zone for more control

Also looking at reducing the size, I think we all agreed this layout was bigger than we really need. TD suggested 2 2×3 module “end sections”, with bridges connecting them. That way we can adjust the size a bit by changing the length of the bridge section, and we still have a fair bit of space at each end. Maybe limit to 1 loop though.

But all in all, a pretty good show. Here’s hoping the Morwell show is even better!

Well, I guess it’s not important to most people, but it’s important to me, so I apologise in advance for the long post.

WOW I’m so hip!

OK, so I admit until I installed this BLOG I had never heard of trackbacks and permalinks. But since I now have, I thought I’d give it a try, by pinging Jake’s explanation of the Engineer Max minifig. And to let Jake know that whatever he thinks, WE all know he designed Max in his image 😉

Tada!

Well, after many hours of coding, cursing, crying, more coding, coke, more coding, and finally some more coding, I finally got Brickley’s Words looking a little like the rest of the BRE site. And I’m happy enough with it now that I’ve included a link from the main site (but you have to search for it!). I guess that’s something interesting, so I decided to add an article about it 🙂

Oh, and I added a “Weather in Studley” repot on the sidebar – just in case you’re confused, it’s actually the weather from the station at Melbourne Airport, about 20km from Melbourne, and about 35km from where I live.

Welcome to Brickley’s Words!

This is just my little blog, nothing really interesting happens to me so I doubt there will be much here, but I hope you enjoy what there is.
